Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read Mark 1:40-45. What strikes you about this passage? Consider what Jesus has just said in verse 38. How does this encounter with the leper fit with Jesus’ mission?
- What emotions does Jesus exhibit in this passage (if possible, compare with other Bible translations, like ESV, NLT and NIV)? What do the emotions of Jesus reveal about him?
- In what ways are we like the leper? How is our sin, and disobedience, like leprosy? How do we “obey” Jesus’ command to “be clean”?
- How does compassion fit in with gospel ministry? How do we grow in compassion? How can we demonstrate compassion in our context (Johnson County, KC metro)?
