- A Mass Feeding…Again: Even the Gentiles
- The Inner Workings of Compassion
- Cultivating a Culture of Compassion
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read Mark 8:1-10. This miracle feeding is very similar to the one in Mark 6:30-44. What is similar? What is different? Why would Mark think it important to include this second feeding, while Luke and John do not record this second feeding?
- From Mark 7:24-8:10 Jesus is ministering in Gentile regions. We see an exorcism, a healing, and a nature miracle (the bread). What are we learning about Jesus in this sequence?
- In verse 2 Jesus says he has “compassion” on the crowd. What is compassion? From where does it come? What keeps you from having compassion on people?
- What is a “culture of compassion”? Why should the church be a “culture of compassion”? How does the gospel create such a culture?
