Life in the Spirit, Part 2

  • Understanding The Spirit & His Fruit
  • The Christian’s Role with The Spirit

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Galatians 5:16-26. Who is the Spirit? What does He do (consider also John 16:5-15)? How is the Spirit different from the “flesh”?
  2. What is the significance of the word “fruit” in verse 22? Why would Paul use “fruit” here and “works” in verse 19?
  3. How does the fruit of the Spirit grow in a Christian’s life? How can you see the fruit of the Spirit growing in your life?
  4. This passage says that we are to “walk by the Spirit,” “live by the Spirit,” and “keep in step with the Spirit.” What do these commands mean? How does the imagery of the commands help us understand their nature? What does this look like in your life?

Memory Verse of the Week:
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (ESV)
