God Goes to Court

  •  God Lays Out His Case
  • Spiritual Leaders’ Impact on Knowledge
  • Beware The Company You Keep

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Hosea 4:1-19. What is God’s contention with Israel? Why are faithfulness, steadfast love, and knowledge so important?
  2. Verse 2 sounds like a repetition of the ten commandments. How does lack of knowledge of God lead to disobedience of the commandments?
  3. Why does God single out the priests in verses 4-9? What did they do that was wrong? How do we safe guard against spiritual abuse from spiritual leaders today?
  4. Consider verses 10-11. How is every sin essentially a replacement of God with a different pleasure? How does this help us fight against sin?
  5. What is God warning Judah to do in verses 15-18? How do we heed this warning today?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; (ESV)
