Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Hosea 11:1-11. In what was does your experience of family life help you understand God’s relationship with His people? When would Israel have been considered a “child”?
  2. What is the “call” in verse 1 &2? How did Israel respond to the call? Why?
  3. According to verse 5, what is God’s plan for Israel now?
  4. What do the questions in verse 8 mean? Read Deuteronomy 29:23 for some help in identifying Admah and Zeboiim.
  5. How is divine anger different from most human anger? How can God be both determined to judge and determined to save?
  6. What does the metaphor of roaring like a lion (v. 10) communicate about God’s plans?

 Memory Verse of the Week:

Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. (ESV)
