Soli Deo Gloria: The Chief End of Man

  • God is Infinite
  • We Are Limited
  • All Things From, Through, and To God
  • Therefore, To God Alone Be the Glory!

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Romans 11:33-36. Why does Paul break out into poetic doxology at this point in his letter to the Romans?
  2. What is Paul saying in verse 33? If God’s judgments and ways are “unsearchable” and “inscrutable,” how can we know anything about God? Look to 1 Corinthians 2:6-13 for help.
  3. Look up the two Old Testament verses in context: verse 34 – Isaiah 40:13; verse 35 – Job 41:11. What is Paul communicating by quoting these verses?
  4. How should we live in light of the truth of verse 36? In what areas are we prone to seek our own glory?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Romans 11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (ESV)
