Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Hebrews 6:9-20. The writer calls us to fight sluggishness by being imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. How does the example of Abraham in verses 13-15 encourage you to fight sluggishness?
  2. In what ways does the author emphasize the faithfulness of God to keep promises? Why is it so important to understand God’s faithfulness?
  3. What does the imagery of “soul anchor” communicate? Who (or what) is our soul anchor? How so?
  4. This paragraph concludes the author’s side note on Christian maturity. What have you learned about growing in maturity from Hebrews 5-6? In what areas are you immature? How can Jesus your soul anchor help?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Hebrews 6:19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, (ESV)
