- Read Hebrews 7:11-22. The writer mentions “perfection” twice in this passage (v. 11 &19). What is perfection? Why is it so important? What role does a priesthood have in achieving perfection?
- Why did the Levitical priesthood fail in attaining perfection? Is it even correct to call it a failure? What was the purpose of the Levitical priesthood?
- What does verse 12 mean? How does it apply to the discussion of the priesthood of Aaron and Melchizedek?
- What is the “better hope” introduced (v. 19)? How is this connected to the “better covenant” (v. 22)? How is Jesus a guarantor?
- What sorts of means of “perfection” do we chase after? How do these fall short of perfection? Why do we let these supplant Jesus?
