Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Psalm 22. In what ways can you identify with this psalm? In what ways is it foreign to you?
  2. Compare this psalm with Matthew 27:32-50. In what ways does this psalm foreshadow the crucifixion?
  3. In what does the psalmist find hope? How does his example teach us to hold onto hope in the midst of hardships?
  4. How can we explain the shift to celebration in verses 22-31? How can one move from agony to celebration?
  5. Why is it so important that we worship a Messiah who has suffered? How are you encouraged today by the finished work of Christ on the cross?
