Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Psalm 45. The psalm title says this is a “love song.” In what ways is this a love song? How is it different from modern “love songs”?
  2. What do we learn about the king in this psalm? Who is the king? Why? Consider Hebrews 1:8-9 quoting 45:6-7.
  3. What do we learn about the bride from this psalm? Who is the bride? Why? Consider Revelation 19:6-8 and the emphasis on clothing.
  4. The psalmist gives us a glimpse into his heart behind the psalm in verse 1. In what ways should we have the same response to this psalm?
  5. This psalm teaches us that our union with Christ ought to bring joy like a marriage union would. What steals your joy you ought to have in Christ?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Psalm 45:1 My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.  (ESV)
