Genesis: Foundations for Life
It All Starts with God
- Why Genesis?
- The Transcendent God
- The Immanent God
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 1:1. Imagine the first audience of this verse (Moses and the Israelites coming out of Egypt). What did they know about God?
- Read Isaiah 40. What does the prophet emphasize about God and creation?
- Read Romans 1:18-20. What can be known about God through creation?
- What is the transcendence of God? How does this relate to him being Creator? What is the immanence of God? How does this relate to him being Redeemer?
- Read Exodus 33:17-34:6. What is the glory of God? How do the transcendence and immanence of God work together? How do they shape our view of the world?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (ESV)
