Genesis: Foundations for Life
The Blame Game
- Dealing with Guilt & Shame by Ourselves
- Dealing with Guilt & Shame in Christ
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 3:7-13. What catches your attention in this passage? Why is that?
- Why do Adam and Eve cover themselves and hide from God? What are they doing with their responses to God’s questions?
- Are guilt and shame common for people to experience? Why or why not?
- What do you normally do when you feel a sense of guilt or shame? Why?
- Read and consider these passages: Zephaniah 3:14-18, 1 John 1:5-2:2, and Hebrews 10:19-25. What hope does the Bible give regarding our guilt and shame? If Adam and Eve had this hope, how would they have responded differently in the garden?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Isaiah 43:25 I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. (ESV)
