Making Known God’s Grace in Warm Spring

Oak Hills is going on another missions trip. Yes, as a church, we are going. Sure, only 10 of our members depart Saturday morning for Warm Springs, Oregon, but we are all involved with the mission.

It’s part of our DNA. We “long to know and make known the astonishing grace of God.” This longing to make known the grace of God is rooted in our growing knowledge and experience of God’s gracious kindness to us in Christ and our deepening compassion on those who do not know Christ. Our longing drives us to send and go and pray and be involved with missions. If our longing is weak, we have much to learn and we ought to beseech God to enliven our hearts.

For over a decade, Oak Hills has partnered with Sacred Road Ministries and Chris & Mary Granberry. Over these years we have seen their ministry start with a small Bible study in White Swan, WA and grow and expand to be a church plant in White Swan and further ministry in Warm Springs. Praise God that the gospel has planted seeds and born fruit among this people group that has experienced so much pain for so long!

I am privileged to be a member of the team of ten this year. The team also includes Mary Ann Burns, Carey & Madi Greer, Natalie & Noel Heinbach, Curt & Rachel Mauk, Matt Stagemeyer, and Micah Thiele. Please pray for us over the next week (see the Prayer Points below). We’ll have two main responsibilities: 1. Manual labor in meeting physical needs on the reservation and 2. Serving with the Kid’s Club Bible program. These two outreaches help build credibility and relationships on the reservation as the missionaries seek to proclaim the gospel and eventually see a church planted in Warm Springs. Our annual, week-long missions trip plays a vital role in the grand vision to make known the astonishing grace of God.

Thank you for your faithful support of Sacred Road and our teams that travel to the Pacific Northwest each year. Join me in praying with the psalmist: “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, that you way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the people praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy!” (Ps. 67:1-4)
