Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Mark 3:7-19. Why would Jesus withdraw with his disciples? What is he trying to leave behind?
  2. Why is a great crowd following Jesus? What are they looking for? What do they want?
  3. Again we see Jesus silencing the unclean spirits. Why is Jesus concerned to keep them quiet?
  4. What is the purpose of Jesus appointing 12 disciples? Is there any parallel with our experience of discipleship?
  5. The 12 disciples could be with Jesus physically. How can we “be with him”? Why is this so necessary and good? How does being with Jesus empower and naturally lead to being sent out to preach?
