  1. Read Mark 8:22-33. Mark is the only gospel writer to record this healing miracle. Why is this healing, with the process Jesus goes through, so important to the overall message of Mark?
  2. How does Peter know Jesus is the Christ? What does Peter understand at this point about Jesus being the “Christ”? What does he still have to learn?
  3. How is the rebuke of Peter encouraging to us? Why would Jesus equate Peter with Satan?
  4. Why is the process of discipleship so difficult? How can we fight discouragement on the way? What does God want to accomplish in the process?
