Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read Mark 11:1-11. What do you think is going through the minds of the disciples during this event? Why would the two disciples obey Jesus’ odd instructions?
- Why does a crowd of people greet Jesus as he enters the city? What is the significance of the words they shout?
- Consider the message Jesus communicates by riding on a colt (a young donkey), a beast of burden. What do we learn about the kingdom from Christ’s display here?
- Read Zechariah 9:9-13 and Psalm 118:19-27. How do these Old Testament passages enrich our understanding of the Triumphal Entry? What is Christ fulfilling?
- How should Christians today respond/relate to Christ as king? What does it mean for us to have a king?
