Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Mark 12:18-27. The Sadducees were a group of Jewish leaders who held to a certain set of theological convictions, including the conviction that there is no resurrection, or after life. What kind of trap are they attempting to set for Jesus with the question of marriage and remarriage?
  2. According to Jesus, why are the Sadducees wrong? What don’t they know or understand?
  3. How does Jesus argue for the resurrection from the “passage about the bush”? How does this produce hope for us?
  4. Verse 25 seems to indicate that there is no marriage in heaven. For some, this may be discouraging. In what lies the goodness and hope of the resurrection?
