Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Acts 6:1-7. What is the source of conflict? Why don’t the leaders of the church address it directly?
- What stands out about the process of selecting deacons? How is the role and responsibility of the deacon spiritual and not merely “physical”?
- What is the connection between verse 7 and the proceeding activity?
- Consider the “pattern” set in Acts by looking also at 14:21-23; 15:2, 4, 22 & 23 and 20:17, 28-32. How are elders and apostles similar? How are they different? What kind of church government do we seeing forming in Acts? Why is this important and how does it connect with Jesus’ building plan in Matthew 16:18-19?
