Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Hosea 2:14-3:5. Why does God use relational words like “allure,” “Husband,” and “betroth” to speak about his relationship with his people?
  2. What is the significance of the phrase “in that day” found in verses 16, 18, and 21? What “day” is he looking ahead to?
  3. There are five character qualities listed in verses 19 & 20 that God says he will betroth Israel “in.” Are these speaking about God’s own character in his actions or his gifts to his bride or both? Explain.
  4. Think about what Hosea is called to do in chapter 3. Why is this so moving and powerful? Where do we fit into this reenactment?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Ephesians 5:25-26 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word. (ESV)
