Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Romans 12:1-13. What is the significance of the word “therefore” in verse 1 at this point in Paul’s letter to the Romans? What is the relationship of commands with mercy?
- Consider the 13 commands of verses 9-13. Is there any thread that ties them together? Are these commands for individuals or for the body of Christ? What difference does this distinction make?
- Zero in on hospitality. What is hospitality, from a biblical perspective? If helpful, look at the other NT uses of the word: Heb 13:2; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:8; & 1 Peter 4:9.
- Rosaria Butterfield says that the Christian church doesn’t practice hospitality as she should because Christians have a weak understanding of sin. What can this mean?
- Consider some examples of hospitality in Scripture. What practical takeaways do you glean from these examples? Ruth 2:8-10; Mark 2:40-45; Matt. 25:35-40; Rom. 16:23; 3 John 5-8
Memory Verse of the Week:
