Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Judges 4:1-24. What stands out to you from this passage? How would this passage encourage the original audience, the Israelites of the Old Testament?
- Why does it take so long for Israel to “cry out” for help (see v. 3)?
- Consider Barak’s response in verse 8. What lies behind his words? Fear? Wisdom? Lack of faith? How does the Lord and Deborah “evangelize” Barak in this story?
- Who is the victor in this chapter? How does he provide victory? What does Yahweh want his people to know and believe?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (ESV)
