- Read John 1:1-5. Believers for centuries have noted the parallels between this prologue and Genesis 1. Why does John mirror the creation account?
- What do we learn about “the Word”? Why is this significant?
- What does the Word do or accomplish?
- What do the words “life” and “light” signify? Compare with John 5:24-26, 8:12, 14:6, & 17:2-3.
- Explain how v. 4b, “the life was the light of men,” states the mission of Christ? The mission of the Church?
