- The Strength for Walking in Christ
- The Results of Walking in Christ
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Colossians 1:24-2:15. Many believe this is the heart of Paul’s letter to the Colossians. What is his main concern? For what is he toiling? How does this emphasis impact you?
- Consider verses 6-7. What is the command? Why does Paul like to use the word “walk” (ESV; “live” in NIV) to speak about our duty? Compare with Galatians 5:16, Ephesians 4:1, and Colossians 1:10.
- How do the truths that we have been rooted in Christ and are being built up in Christ strengthen us for the task of walking in Christ?
- What role does thanksgiving have in relation to our duty to walk in Christ? Why does Paul include the word “abounding” (v. 7)?
- Paul stated in 1:28 that he aims to “present everyone mature in Christ.” 2:6-7 gives the “formula” for achieving this goal. How are you doing? Are you maturing in Christ?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Colossians 2:6-7 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (ESV)
