Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Exodus 20:1-17. Have you ever memorized the 10 commandments? How have they helped you in your walk with God?
- What is the significance of verse 2? How does this opening statement shape how we hear the commandments?
- Why do we say that the commandments address more than actions; that they address our hearts and minds? Also, why do we believe that if an action is prohibited that the opposite action is prescribed? How do these truths shape how we hear the commandments?
- How do the commandments shape our values? How should we live in light of those values?
- How does the law bring us back to Jesus again and again? Why is this important?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Romans 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (ESV)
