Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read John 9:1-7. Compare this passage with Luke 10:29-37. In what ways is Jesus the ultimate Good Samaritan? How does the comfort you? How does that challenge you?
- What does the disciples’ question reveal about what they believe about the source of suffering? Are they right? Explain. What is the “problem of pain”?
- According to Jesus in verse 3, why was this man born blind? What does this mean for our suffering?
- What are the works we must be doing (v. 4)? How does suffering play into these works?
- In what ways are we like this man born blind? What does Jesus do for us?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (ESV)
