John: That You May Believe

The Underbelly of Unbelief

  • So Many Signs, So Little Faith
  • A Final Invitation and A Final Warning

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read John 12:37-50. What is startling about or in this passage? What makes this so startling?
  2. Read the two Isaiah quotes in their context: Isaiah 53:1 and Isaiah 6:10. What do these verses mean in their original contexts? How does John apply them to Jesus’ ministry? What does John mean by verse 41?
  3. How does the love of the glory that comes from men undermine faith?
  4. Verses 44-50 are the last words of Jesus to the crowds in the Gospel of John. What does Jesus press upon the people? How should we respond to these words?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (ESV)
