John: That You May Believe
Love & Joy
- What Does Jesus Want for Us?
- God’s Love Leads to Our Joy
- Our Obedience Leads to Our Joy
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read John 15:1-11. According to verse 11, what does Jesus want for his followers? What is the difference between his joy being in us and our joy being full?
- What do people (non-believers and believers) normally think Jesus wants for or from his followers? Why is joy normally not on that list?
- How does God’s and Jesus’ love lead to our joy? Consider Romans 5:6-11. What place does God’s love have in our joy?
- Consider 15:10 in light of John 14:15. What is the relationship between our love for God, our obedience, and God’s love for us?
- Why is obedience integral to our joy? Is this works or grace? Explain.
Memory Verse of the Week:
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. (ESV)
