The Wonder of the Incarnation

Preeminent in All 

  • Christ: Preeminent in Creation
  • Christ: Head of the Body
  • Christ: Preeminent in New Creation  

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:Read Colossians 1:15-20. Most Bible scholars believe these verses are an early church hymn. What Christ-exalting hymn do you like to sing? Why?

  1. What is Christ’s relationship to creation? Note the use of “all things” in the passage. What comfort and/or significance come from this?
  2. The head of the body is the source of sustenance and governance for the body. How does this apply to Christ as the head of the church?
  3. Why do we speak of verses 18-20 as new creation? Why is Christ preeminent in new creation?
