Acquaintance With Scripture

  • The Power of Influence
  • The Power of Scripture
  • Acquaintance with Power

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:12-4:5. Paul describes evil people and imposters as “deceiving and being deceived.” What is the relationship with deception and how one lives? What influences might be deceptive in our world?
  2. As you survey the passage, make a list of all that Paul says Scripture does, or is able to do. How can Scripture be so powerful?
  3. Read the reflection from R.C. Sproul on page 3. Is Sproul correct? Why or why not? Why might we lose sight of the power of Scripture?
  4. Paul’s command comes in verse 14, “continue…” in Scripture. In what ways do you “continue” in Scripture? In what ways should you continue in Scripture?

Memory Verse of the Week:

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (ESV)
