Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read John 18:12-27. What catches your attention in this passage? Why does John go back and forth between Jesus and Peter?
- Jesus argues for a fair trial. Why will he not receive a fair trial? How does Jesus conduct himself facing this injustice?
- What does Peter fear in the courtyard? What does Peter rely on for protection?
- Compare Jesus’ response in the garden, “I am,” with Peter’s response in the courtyard, “I am not.” What do each of the men reveal about themselves in these responses?
- In what ways do you identify with Peter? Why? What is the significance of the Reflection on page 3 for you?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (ESV)
