Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read John 21:1-25. What catches your attention from this chapter? Why?
  2. Why does Peter go back to fishing? Why is this a failure of living in accordance with the theology he knows of Christ?
  3. Why does Jesus ask Peter three times if he loves him? How is love for Jesus connected with serving others?
  4. How does verse 22 undermine our frequent attempts to compare ourselves with others? Whose assessment of us should captivate our focus? Why?
  5. How does this chapter lay the groundwork for the book of Acts and the rest of the church?

Memory Verse of the Week:

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. (ESV)
