- Read Daniel 1:1-21. Some of the stories of Daniel are very familiar. What catches your attention from the text that may differ from what you have heard before?
- What does Nebuchadnezzar do with the youths from Judah? Why?
- Why does Daniel “resolve” to not be defiled? What is defilement? How would the diet defile Daniel?
- In what ways are we, are you, susceptible to be defiled by our current godless culture? What does it look like for you to resolve to not be defiled?
- What does God do in this chapter? Key in on the three times God “gave” (v. 2, 9, 17). How does God continue to work in this manner? How is God the foundation for our strength?
