Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Daniel 5:1-31. What is Belshazzar’s main sin (hint: the same as Nebuchadnezzar, v. 20)? What is this sin so destructive? What destruction from this sin have you seen in your life?
- In what ways has Belshazzar not honored God (v. 23)?
- Why are there no second chances for Belshazzar like there were for Nebuchadnezzar in chapters 1-4?
- What do we learn from Belshazzar’s negative example? How should we not be like Belshazzar?
- Consider verse 22 and read the Reflection on page 3. Why is it so important to engage with the truth of the gospel with both our heads and hearts? What do you do to actively humble your heart before the truth?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Isaiah 66:2 But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. (ESV)
