Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Micah 1:1-2:13. How familiar are you with the Old Testament story? You could read 2 Kings 18-19 to learn of some of the historical events during Micah’s time.
- In what ways does 1:2-5 sound like courtroom language? Why is this language used?
- What are the sins of the evil doers described in 2:1-2:2? What are some modern-day examples of such evil?
- What will God do with sin and transgression? Consider 1:6-7 and 2:3-5. How does this instruct us regarding our sin?
- Why does Micah lament in 1:8-9? How is biblical lament different from complaining or protesting?
- What hope is given in 2:12-13? How are lament and hope linked?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Micah 2:12 I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob; I will gather the remnant of Israel; I will set them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in its pasture, a noisy multitude of men. (ESV)
