Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ephesians 1:1-2. Have you ever studied Paul’s letter to the Ephesians? Do you have any favorite verses or parts? What stands out to you about Ephesians?
  2. Who is Paul? Why is it so important that he is an apostle of Jesus Christ? Consider 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 and 1 Timothy 1:15. How does Paul’s sense of “unworthiness” impact his ministry?
  3. In you have time, read Acts 19. What catches your attention about the Ephesians? In what ways do we live in a similar environment as Ephesus? Why would Paul write this letter?
  4. In a sense, how is the opening benediction, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father,” an excellent summary of the gospel? One commentator says that grace is a one-word summary of the gospel. Why would he say that?

Memory Verse of the Week:

1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. (ESV)
