Normative Renewal

  • A Good Church is a Needy Church
  • The Loss of Love
  • The Ingredients of Normative Renewal

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Revelation 2:1-7. Who is addressing the church in Ephesus? What do we learn about the speaker from chapter 1?
  2. In what ways is the church in Ephesus commended? How can such a church become unhealthy?
  3. What is the love, which is abandoned in verse 4? Love for God or love for neighbor? Explain.
  4. What causes us to drift from a love for God and neighbor? Why don’t “spiritual highs” remain constant?
  5. Why should we use the language of “normative renewal”? What contributes to the ongoing renewal of a Christian and the church?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Revelation 2:4-5 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. (ESV)
