The Holy One
MESSAGE – Rev. Dr. Dale Thiele
Behold Your God!
The Holy One
- Walking Through Fire With God
- The Incomparable Holy One
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Isaiah 43:1-7. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- What do we learn about God from these verses? How do the names of God shape our understanding of who God is?
- Consider 42:18-25. How do these verses shape our understanding of the “waters” and the “fire” of 43:2? What comfort are we promised in verse 2?
- The name “The Holy One” emphasizes more than the purity of God. It highlights the uniqueness of God (cf. 40:25 in it’s context). How does the uniqueness of God assure us when we face various hardships and trials?
- The command is “Fear not.” Why do we (get personal, why do you) fear people, circumstances, the future, the unknown, etc.? In what ways is our fear a despising of the Holy One (cf. 1:4)?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. (ESV)
