Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 24:1-67. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- This is a tale of two loves, God’s love (v. 12) and Isaac’s love (v. 67). How are the two loves linked? In what ways is this story a living illustration of 1 John 4:19?
- Consider Abraham’s statement in verses 6-8. How is Abraham’s faith revealed in this statement? How has God’s steadfast love shaped Abraham’s faith up to this point?
- Consider Rebekah’s simple response in verse 58 (one word in Hebrew). How does this response reveal Rebekah’s faith? What circumstances in the chapter have shaped Rebekah’s faith?
- Consider Isaac’s response to meeting Rebekah in verses 66-67. How has God’s steadfast love shaped and prepared Isaac for this moment?
- Consider Westminster Shorter Catechism Question 11 (page 18 in the bulletin). How is God’s steadfast love linked with his providence? How does this comfort you?
