Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 26:34-35, 27:46-28:9. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- Why do the marriages of Esau cause so much bitterness for Isaac and Rebekah? Why is intermarriage with the Hittites so dangerous?
- Read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. Does this apply to marriage? Why or why not?
- Rebekah will not see Jacob again once he leaves for Paddan-aram. Why does she make such a sacrifice?
- Isaac actively blesses Jacob in 28:3-4. Why is this moment so significant? What does the name “God Almighty” signify in connection with the covenant promises (see Gen. 17:1 and Ex. 6:3)?
- How does the faithfulness of God shape your life?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (ESV)
