Genesis: Foundations for Life
Marital Bliss
- God Arranges a Marriage
- The Deceiver is Deceived
- The Pain of the Unloved
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 29:1-30. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- God is not mentioned in this passage. Does that mean God is not active? In what ways do we see God working?
- Compare Jacob’s accusation in 29:25 with Isaac’s in 27:35. In what ways does this demonstrate that “what goes around, comes around”?
- What attitude should we have towards our forgiven sin? Does God discipline forgiven sin? Read Hebrews 12:3-11. How does this impact our answers to those previous two questions?
- Commentators say that verse 30 should be translated, “And Jacob loved Rachel rather than Leah.” What encouragement could you give to unloved Leah?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Hebrews 12:11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (ESV)
