Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 29:31-30:24. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- Place yourself in Leah’s place. What affliction does she endure? What does she desperately want? How does God meet her need? Does she receive and rest in God alone for what she needs?
- Place yourself in Rachel’s place. What affliction does she endure? What does she desperately want? How does God meet her need? Does she receive and rest in God alone for what she needs?
- Place yourself in Jacob’s place. What affliction does he endure? What should he have done in this situation? How does God demonstrate his covenantal faithfulness to Jacob?
- What does God throughout this passage? Take note of the specific verbs that describe God’s actions. In what ways does God demonstrate this same covenantal faithfulness to you?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. (ESV)
