MESSAGE – Rev. Dr. Dale Thiele
Times of Refreshing
Repent and Turn
- The Plight of Every Human
- The Promise of Refreshment & Restoration
- The Gateway of Repentance
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Acts 3:1-26. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- In what ways does the man lame from birth represent every human? In other words, how is every human crippled? By what?
- Verses 20 & 21 have two words, refreshing and restoring, for which every human longs. What kind of refreshing is promised in this passage? What does this look like in our lives today?
- What is repentance? Consider the reflection on page 3 (WLC 76). Why is repentance the “gateway” to times of refreshing?
- What do you think of Martin Luther’s quote on page 3? How can our entire life be repentance? Why is this so important?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Acts 3:19-30 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. (ESV)
