Times of Refreshing

New Morning Mercies

  • Bitter Sorrow
  • Refreshing Hope

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Lamentations 3:19-24. Remembering plays a big part in this section of Lamentations. What does the writer of Lamentations remember first? In what ways do you relate to this, especially in light of pain and suffering?
  2. What does the writer of Lamentations call to mind in light of suffering and pain? How does this relate to his hopelessness being turned to hope? How might you preach this to your own heart this week and advent season?
  3. The writer of Lamentations wants us to focus in on the never ceasing and never-ending love and care that the Lord has for His people at all times. How should these truths change us and transform our posture especially when it feels like our world and life have been turned upside down?
  4. The book of Lamentations helps us to voice our own suffering and pain in our lives to the Lord. What areas of your life do you need the refreshing hope of Christ today? Take some time this week and bring those to the Lord and meditate on the wonderful hope we have in the Lord today.

Memory Verse of the Week:

Lamentations 3:24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (ESV)
