Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read 2 Peter 1:3-11. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- How does Peter start this passage? In other words, what does he emphasize before he gives the command in verse 5? Why is this order or logic so important?
- Consider verse 5. The command “make every effort to supplement” sounds like a lot of work. How do we reconcile this work with the free grace of salvation?
- Peter lists seven qualities which we are to supplement to our faith (v. 5-7). How does this list compare with other lists like Galatians 5:22-23 and Colossians 3:12-15?
- How does one supply these qualities to his or her faith? In other words, how does one grow in grace (2 Pet. 3:18)?
- Compare verse 8 & 9 with Psalm 1:3-4. How are they similar? What does it mean to be effective and fruitful?
