I Will Submit

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Matthew 18:15-20. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
  2. Why should we submit to the government of the church? What good is it to submit? Consider Hebrews 13:17, Acts 20:28, and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
  3. What is the discipline of the church? Is it more than punishment? Consider Hebrews 12:3-11.
  4. Looking at Matthew 18:15-20, what is Jesus’ goal with this line of instruction? What does he want to happen?
  5. With what motive or heart attitude should one approach his brother to “tell him his fault”? Why is the motive so important?
