Genesis: Foundations for Life

Family Reunion

  • The Power of God’s Grace
  • The Conduit of God’s Blessing
  • The Slowness of Formation

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Genesis 33:1-20. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
  2. When Jacob fled from Esau, Esau wanted to kill him (27:41). With what sort of emotions does Jacob approach Esau in 33:1-3?
  3. Why is verse 4 so shocking? To what or whom can we attribute such a transformation?
  4. Consider what Jacob says in verse 11. How is this a fulfillment of Genesis 12:2? How has God blessed you? How does God want you to bless others?
  5. Is Jacob perfect? How do his words and activity in verses 14 & 17 demonstrate that he is not perfect? What does this teach us about spiritual formation?

Memory Verse of the Week:

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (ESV)
