- Read Genesis 36:1-43. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- Why are genealogies important?
- Why does Esau leave the land of Canaan? How do the covenant promises require him to leave?
- Take a moment to survey the history of Edom in the Old Testament from these passages: Numbers 20:14-21, 2 Samuel 8:13-14, 2 Kings 8:20-22, and Obadiah 2-3, 10-14. What is Edom’s relation with Israel throughout the OT? What happens to Edom?
- Genesis 3:15 says there will be enmity between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman. How is this illustrated in Esau & Israel? The church & ____? Why does God allow the seed of the serpent to continue? Consider Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43.
