Genesis: Foundations for Life

The Big Reveal

  • A Godward Perspective
  • The Fruit of Blessing

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Genesis 45:1-38. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
  2. Why are the brothers “dismayed” in verse 3? What might be going through their minds/hearts?
  3. Consider the words of Joseph in verses 4-9. How does he speak of God? How does one develop such a Godward perspective?
  4. Is Joseph dismissive of his brothers’ sins? Why or why not? What does this episode teach us about dealing with sins against us?
  5. Why is Pharoah so eager to welcome Joseph’s family in Egypt? In what ways does Joseph teach us to be good employees?
  6. Why might Jacob not believe his sons at first (v. 26)? How can these brothers be reconciled to their father?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (ESV)
