Seeking God’s Will
- Meet with God
- Plead with God
- Listen to God
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 46:1-27. What catches your attention from this passage? Why?
- Consider the importance of Beersheba in Genesis so far: 21:31-33 & 26:23-25. Why would Jacob stop here before continuing to Beersheba?
- Why might Jacob be fearful of going down to Egypt? Consider what happened with Abram in 12:10-20 and what God spoke to Isaac in 26:1-5.
- How does this meeting with God compare with Jacob’s previous encounters in 28:10-17 and 32:9-12, 24-30? How is Jacob growing in his faith?
- What does God promise? How do the promises of God alleviate Jacob’s fears?
- What habits or patterns do you have for seeking God’s will and meeting with him? How do the promises of God make a difference in your life?
Memory Verse of the Week:
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in Jesus Christ. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. (ESV)
