- Read Luke 10:1-20. What did Jesus send the 72 out to do? What instructions/warnings did he give? How do they respond at the end of the mission?
- What is the source of the 72's joy in verse 17? How does Jesus respond to their joy? What is Jesus talking about in verses 18 & 19?
- Consider Psalms 95-100, Philippians 4:4, and 1 Thessalonians 5:16. Why is "rejoicing" commanded? How can God command an emotive action? How do we guide or lead or control our affections/emotions?
- Why is joy essential to faith? How can glorifying God and enjoying God both be the chief end of man?
